Billboards

Billboards are mounted in areas with high traffic, or on highways where people did not have much else to do to pass time and ended up reading billboards instead.
Traditionally, billboards only used to be a slogan and some graphics painted or printed on a canvas. Now, however, marketers are teaming up with graphic designers to come up with a more creative billboard each time, using different techniques to gain attention. It started out with billboard designers using static three-dimensional figures. Later on, movement was added. Still later, floodlights would be added so that the whole scene could be seen after dark. Some designers make use of a motor and a rotating or sliding display so that the advertisement may be changed every few seconds to advertise multiple products and save on advertising costs at the same time.
There are countless examples of how billboards may be used creatively to gain attention. A news magazine uses a three-dimensional light bulb, equipped with a sensor that lights up when anyone walks underneath. A sports car manufacturer sprayed a special material over its billboards to blur the scene behind it to give the impression of speed. A famous mobile handset manufacturer has even made effective use of an interactive billboard in a train station to promote its new mobile phone. An interactive billboard has also been effectively used by a manufacturer of sports goods, who installed a new model of treadmill within the billboard and promised that for every kilometer, one dollar would be donated to charity. This not only created company goodwill, it also generated product trial and created brand loyalty in the process.
